What is Data Governance Mode?
Data Governance Mode (also called BYOK — Bring Your Own Key) lets you connect your own OpenAI, Anthropic (Claude), or Google (Gemini) API key. AI requests are made directly with your key, so your data and prompts stay within your provider relationship instead of Tepun's shared token pool. There are no per-request token limits — you pay your provider directly for what you use.

Setting Up Data Governance Mode
- Get an API Key — Obtain a key from your provider: OpenAI (platform.openai.com), Anthropic (console.anthropic.com), or Google AI (aistudio.google.com)
- Go to Settings — Navigate to account settings at report.tepun.com
- Open Data Governance / BYOK — Locate the API key configuration section
- Choose Provider & Enter Your Key — Select OpenAI, Anthropic, or Google and paste your key
- Save — Your key is verified, encrypted, and stored securely
- Verify — Confirm AI features work using your key
Things to Keep in Mind
- You're responsible for billing and usage with your chosen provider
- Set up billing alerts and spend caps in your provider account
- Your key is encrypted at rest and never exposed in the app
- You can switch back to Tepun's managed tokens at any time
